Fiction and non-fiction
As a journalist turned author, I have written everything from experimental poetry to dry financial reports. I've published one novel, The Leipzig Affair, and two books about whisky, as short stories, poetry and a full-length translation from German to English.
I'm currently seeking a publisher for my second novel, Indigo, which is set in Calton, a fictionalised version of Glasgow. It tells the story of a battle for hearts and minds between a repressive religion in cahoots with a criminal gang and a group of hardcore underground activists led by a yoga teacher. My work in progress includes a non-fiction book about walks to abandoned settlements in Harris and Lewis, which will be published by Birlinn, and a third novel set in the 1970s about a gay crofter with a dark secret.
